Someone once asked me, shortly after we’d been introduced, “What
should I know about you?” I was startled by the question, but have since found
it a succinct query to draw out and sum up the important particulars of a
complex human being. So, I’ll answer that question here, for those of you who
need to know.
I’m a Believer, which means I know that Jesus loves me because I’m His child, and I love Him because He loves me. How do I know that? Simply put, because the Bible, and the Holy Spirit, tell me so.

Though I prefer the simple pseudonym, “The Printer” here in
the Blogosphere, my wife calls me “Joel.” Incidentally, so do my parents, my
two siblings and their families, and my friends. Only my son and daughters have the distinct privilege of
calling me “Papa.” Though born and raised in the evergreen-clad mountainsides
of Northwest Oregon, I’ve since put new roots down in Maryland, where I revel
in historic charm, a little more sunshine, and a little less rain.
My wife and dearest friend, Mikaela, joined me in my new
home-state in August, 2014. Our son Liam came a year or so later, our daughter Ada arrived in spring 2017, and our daughter Emilia in fall of 2018. Together,
we love living life as Jesus intended—abundantly, and with an eye on eternity.
Somewhere along the way I picked up a bachelors in Political
Science and a Juris doctor (which means I’m supposed to know something
about law and politics). I'm currently the administrator for a Christian home school academy based in Maryland, helping families home educate their children with excellence. I'm a huge fan of the Eric Metaxas Show, an aficionado of radio drama, and try to always keep at least one audio book in my car and one
real book on my nightstand.
I love dogs, sing ballads, and devour ambrosia salad.
